who the...

Some of you will know me, Tim Hobill Cole from the markets where I have worked for most of my career since walking away from uni and onto the ASX trading floor in the mid 80’s, while others will have run across me in Sydney dealing rooms, prop trading, or in a bank treasury.

For those who “wouldn’t know me from Adam” I am still a kid from Boggabri who wandered down to Sydney, found work with legendary racehorse trainer Tommy Smith/Gai Waterhouse and migrated to the financial markets where I carved out a career trading and personal investing.

I was lucky enough to graduate the school of hard knocks and have worked in stockbroking, futures trading, investment and portfolio management. At the onset of the GFC late 2007 I took a position with a foreign bank as Head of Funding which tested all my market guile as I led a team which funded a tripling of the bank’s asset base.

Now on the wrong side of 50 with three kids and a fabulous wife I am motivated by sharing my knowledge of markets. My goal is to provide a semblance of practical logic in attempting to filter genuine evidenced based research from the volumes of sales-research we are confronted with daily. Hopefully investors new, experienced, conservative or aggressive will each learn something new from my “BS-free” view of investing and advice.

Hence the website, the posting of some investment research and other information about “schools of thought” I subscribe to. Whether you find my “thought bubbles” useful or are interested in investigating my investing models in more detail, or just want a shortcut to some useful financial information I hope you’ll find the website useful.

Find me on…
