Just because people ask, a bit of absolutely useless info - my surname ‘Hobill’ is anglicised from the French ‘Hauteville’, (from what my family can work out).
Tancred of Hauteville (1075 – 1112) was an Italo-Norman leader of the First Crusade who later became Prince of Galilee and regent of the Principality of Antioch. Tancred created merry hell for many on the First Crusade, particularly at Constantinople.
I note wryly that Christian/Muslim relations haven’t been much good since that time!
